Old Town Padded Kayak Seat
We have used this seat in Old Towns such as Loons, Dirigos, Vapors, Herons, Otters, plus many other kayak brands and models.
Makes a great replacement OR upgrade seat with comfort and very good back support.
Notice the backrest is tall, and well padded.
You can easily adjust the backrest with the support straps on each side.
The second pic is a custom Bell/northstar Rob Roy solo canoe we upgraded several years ago for our customer.
Third pic shows factory mounting in an Old Town Dirigo 106 or 120.
Typically, this seat is installed by bolting through the side wall of the kayak and through the seats vertical support arms.
Depending on kayak width and depth these support arms may be angled so they are vertical from the seat pan
(this makes them about 20.5" wide, at which they are @ 8" above a flat floor.)
OR the support arms may be tilted outward to accommodate a wider kayak hull (up to about 30" wide, at which they are @ 6" above a flat floor.)

We also sell a version of the Old Town Padded Kayak Seat Kit with mounting brackets for aluminum tubing, as seen in the current Dirigo Tandem, as well as some Twin Otter and classic Loon models. For this version there would be about 22-23" between the tubing measured across the cockpit. You may need to alter your mounting if your kayak did not come with this seat originally.

We have found that this seat is Easily adapted to various kayak models [where our customer wanted to upgrade from their old kayak seat]
AND even some solo canoes [where our customer thought the standard canoe seat was too high and tippy].

Padded Kayak Seat Specs:
Seat Pan: 18" wide, 20" long and about 2" thick.
Support Arms: 6" high, L: 9" long.
Backrest: 15" high, W: 12" wide.

Hardware and instructions are included with this seat.  Standard install method is mounting thru the side-wall, which is how Old Town is currently installing this seat in their one person models.  It may be possible to mount this seat from above with different hardware but that is Not included here.

Deluxe Flex Kayak Seat
The Deluxe Flex seat is an upgrade to the standard Flex seat that came in Old Town Trip, Heron, Vapor and Twin Heron kayaks for many years...
The Deluxe Flex seat is clearly better than the older standard seat in many ways.
The Backrest of the Deluxe Flex is more sturdy and also more comfortably shaped and more padded than the standard backrest.
The seat pan of the Deluxe Flex is more comfortably shaped and more padded than the standard seat pan. Mounting the new seat is very easy in these models since it mounts the same way as the old one.

The mounting brackets that hold this seat are bolted into the kayak vertically through the kayak deck, next to the cockpit combing (two holes per side; @ 3" on center, front to rear).
Each bracket is about 8.5" tall when measured from a flat floor.
NOTE; the mounting brackets for this seat need to be mounted about 23" to 26" apart from each other. Center to center bolt width is 24.5" but the seat mounting brackets can FLEX in or out; as narrow as 23" or as wide as 26".
(For this you would measure from a seat mounting screw on one side, across your kayak's cockpit, to a seat mounting screw on the other side).

The base of the Seat Pan is about 21" Long and 20.5" wide. The top side of the seat pan is a bit less than that.
The Backrest is Large and nicely contoured; 15" wide and 11" tall. The top of the Backrest measures 15" above a flat floor.
If you have questions on how this seat may work in your kayak you may call our customer service with questions at ph;(585)682-4849.
The Deluxe Flex seat pictured at left is in an Old Town Vapor. We have also used this seat in the Necky Rip and Old Town's Heron and Loon 106, Loon 126 and the latest generation of Loon 120.
Kayaks vary; this seat does not fit in all kayaks.
YOU need to measure YOUR particular kayak to see if this seat's 23" to 26" mounting width will fit.

ACS2 Seat for Old Town and Necky Kayaks, Wide mounting width
Finally, after many requests and a great deal of begging... The factory has agreed to offer the next level of comfort in a kit form... Active Comfort System 2 (ACS2).
ACS2 is clearly better than the older ACS seats in many ways. This is the current and best type of seat used in the best Old Town models that have wider cockpits.
Designed for all day comfort the ACS2 seat features a visible, intuitive adjustment system, multi-laminate construction for optimal support and softness. Enhanced seating surface gives superior air-flow and drainage. This sturdy new seat provides that "one with the boat" feeling along with tremendous comfort.
This four-way adjustable seat tailors individual backrest height, thigh support, lumbar support and backrest angle to provide a truly customized ride.
ACS2 seat kit will replace your old time seat. Also replaces the grey Extrasport Xtra Comfort seats in Old Town kayaks that have wider cockpits.
If you have an older Dirigo kayak with Extrasport Xtra Comfort seats AND ratchet control knobs (these knobs are in the way and need to be removed). Note we have also used the smaller ACS2 seat is some Dirigo kayaks. (measure your kayak carefully for depth below screw holes and distance across cockpit screw to screw.)
The mounting brackets that hold the seat are bolted into the kayak vertically through the kayak deck, next to the cockpit combing (two holes per side; @ 3" on center, front to rear).
Each mounting bracket is about 5.5" above the seat pan, they can be adjusted 1/2" lower OR 1/2" higher to accommodate different kayak depths. Note: we sell Optional extra mounting brackets for this seat that are one inch shorter, and still adjustable like the standard bracket.
NOTE; the standard mounting brackets for this seat need to be mounted about 21.5" to 24" apart
(For this measure from a seat mounting screw on one side, across your kayak's cockpit, to a seat mounting screw on the other side).

This seat's mounting brackets have inner mounting holes designed for self tapping screws at 21.5" apart AND outer mounting holes designed for nut/bolts up to 24" apart. You may choose to use either the screw hole OR bolt hole, as you see best for your kayak. Mounting screws are included.
This ACS2 Seat Pan is about 17" Long and 20.5" wide.
Overall seat length is 20" and overall seat width is 23". Foam pads on the bottom of this seat may be shaved down, OR added to, in order to fit hull shape.
The backrest is 11" tall by 15" wide, contoured for lumbar support, adjusts up/down, adjusts for lean.
If you have questions on how this seat may work in your kayak you may call our customer service with questions at ph;(585)682-4849.
The ACS2 pictured at left is in an Old Town Vapor. We have used this seat in the Old Town's Heron and the new Loon 106, 120, 126 and the NECKY Rip 10 and 12.

Kayaks vary from year to year of a given model; this seat does not fit in every kayak.  It may be too wide or deep for some models but we do offer 2 smaller versions (lower on this page) for less wide or less deep kayak models.

We recommend that You measure YOUR particular kayak to see if this seat's 21.5" to 24" seat bracket mounting -bolt to bolt width will fit.
We sell 3 types of ACS2 seats, this one is Wide (requires wider mounting bolt to bolt width) and comes with Taller mounting brackets (requires more kayak depth.)

We included these items with this ACS2 Wide seat kit...
-  Adjustable Seat Mounting brackets which you can adjust higher or lower for kayak depth.
-  Multiple Shims to cushion under the seat, or raise it up off the floor as needed.
-  We also sell Medium or Narrow adjustable mounting brackets, as an alternative to the ones that we include with this ACS2 wide seat kit.

ACS2 Seat Brackets, pair
We see quite a few kayaks with a 21.5" mounting bolt width. This would imply that you could use the Wider ACS2 seat or the Small ACS2 seat. The right choice will rely on how tall the brackets are, as well as the mounting width.
For sale here is one pair of 6 inch Seat Brackets to fit the ACS2 seats. These include one pair of strap guides to hold your backrest strap in place.
The brackets that hold the seat are bolted into the kayak vertically through the kayak deck, next to the cockpit combing (two holes per side; @ 3" on center, front to rear). Each style bracket is 6 inches tall overall. They can be adjusted 1/2" higher OR 1/2" lower to accommodate different kayak depths depending which of the 9 holes you put 3 bolts in when connecting the seat.
We have 3 Seat Mounting Bracket types to pick from for the 3 types of ACS2 seats we sell. One type is 7 inches tall, two are 6 inches tall. Either type will fit on the wider, small or narrow ACS2 seats.
7inch Bracket, Wider mounting width (about 5.5" above the seat pan in the middle position.)
These brackets are included on the most Wide ACS2 seat that we sell. Mounting holes are on the outboard side of the bracket. These brackets require the most depth and require a wider mounting bolt width.
6inch Bracket, Medium mounting width (about 4.5" above the seat pan in the middle position.)
These brackets are included on the ACS2 SMALL seat we sell. Mounting holes are on the outboard side of the bracket. Order these brackets if the bracket that comes on the wider ACS2 seat is too tall, but your bolting width is ok.
6inch Bracket, Narrow mounting width (about 4.5" above the seat pan in the middle position.)
These brackets are included on the ACS2 NARROW seat we sell. Mounting holes are on the inboard side of the bracket.
Mounting bolts are to the inside of the bracket this results in a narrower bolting width, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches less. May be used on the wide or small ACS2 seats.
Order these brackets if the bracket that comes on the wider ACS2 seat is too tall, AND your bolting width needs to be less.
Order these brackets if the bracket that comes on the Small ACS2 seat is too wide in terms of bolting width, but the bracket height is good.

If you have questions on how these brackets may work in your kayak you may call our customer service with questions at ph;(585)682-4849.

Necky Style Kayak BackBand
This Old Town backrest is the replacement for the Large Necky Backband (the Necky brand is owned by Old Town.)

This can be mounted a different ways depending on the model and vintage of your craft. Not all Necky kayaks will have the same seat or backrest that your does, theres lots of variations over several decades.

Old Town uses this Backband in the Looksha tandem which they still build today.

The rear of this backband has two studs (2 inches on center) that line up with the adjustable mounting bracket (black plastic with a series of holes to adjust the backband higher or lower) which connects the backrest to the seat in many Necky models.

This Backrest is semi-rigid, so it will tend to wrap around your back as you tighten the straps.
You could also mount this in typical backband fashion in lots of kayak brands -the strap grommets just need to be mounted somewhere forward of the seatback, such as your existing seat bolts or thighbrace bolts, then use bungees to tether the backband in place. Mounting this way tends to vary a bit from one year, brand or model to another. Original Necky instructions are just shown for comparison.
Get one now to fix up your old kayak, or upgrade if you just prefer more back support and comfort.
