All kayak carriers are not the same!
Neither are
all kayak hull shapes the same...
The new "Gull Wing" saddle will
outperform all others.
Our large surface of contact will not dent your poly kayak like competitors!
Fits 95% of hull shapes when placed near the mid section of any length kayak
(most sit-on-top kayaks can be carried upside down on your rack, but it is
a more difficult load from the side of the car requiring two people). And yet it's still
very soft to cradle your expensive poly or composite kayak.
It's tough ABS shape will both support and conform to your kayak's hull shape.
Won't dent your kayak hull like the others. The new "Gull Wing" kayak carriers will outperform
all others and fit 95% of all hull shapes. No other saddles have this much surface area to
protect your kayak's hull shape against denting. Made of tough ABS plastic with a soft felt
surface on top.
Gull Wings are the only saddles that allow you to load from the side of your
vehicle OR you can slide your kayak forward when loading from the rear of the vehicle.
Other
brand saddles with rubber or plastic pads actually resist sliding the kayak forward and make loading more difficult.
We offer three gull wing shapes; Choose which fits your kayak hull shape best...
• OUR "Gull Wing" kayak saddle has a 18" x 12" felt padded surface; V shape [center is 3" lower than sides].
Gull Wing saddles fit any kayak with a more rounded or vee bottom
(such as Old Town Dirigo or Current Design Kestrel or Vision, also fits all sea kayaks OR any
vee bottom Kayaks such as all Wilderness Systems Tsunami OR any Pungo AND any Eddyline kayak
-except tandems (which use the "Gull Wing XL") and Caribbeans, which use "Gull Wing Caribbean").
• OUR "Gull Wing XL" kayak saddle has a 22" x 12" felt padded surface;
shallow V shape [center is 2" lower than sides].
Gull wing XL saddles fit kayaks with a wider, flatter
bottom: such as Old Town Vapor or Loon, Wilderness Systems Pamlico or Tarpon, Perception Prodigy,
Current Design Solara, Native WaterCraft Marvel or Inuit and most tandem kayaks (except Old Town's Twin Heron, which use "Gull Wing Caribbean").
• OUR "Gull Wing Caribbean" kayak saddle has a 21.5" x 12" felt padded surface;
shallow V shape [center is 2.5" lower than sides].
Gull Wing Caribbean saddles fit Eddyline's Caribbean and Old Town's Twin Heron.

The Felt padded surface will act as "rollers" to load and unload your boat.
Compare our 216 square inch (XL is 264 square inches) surface against competitors rollers and saddles of
8 to 48 square inches.
We offer two mounting types; Choose which fits your rack crossbar shape...
•Snap-Around Mount, Fits ONLY Yakima™ round bars OR Thule™ rectangular bars.
•Universal Mount, Fits most oval or wing shaped crossbars up to 3.5" wide and up to 2" thick.
Including Yakima™ Jetstream bars and Yakima™ Core bars, Thule™ Aero bars, Thule™ square bars and most factory racks we see.
The Universal Mount will fit on Yakima™ Round bars or Thule™ Square bars
(but the Snap-Around Mount is best for those.)
Neither of these mounts will fit 2x2" or 3x2" trailer bars.

of installation with this "Universal Mighty Mount". It will attach to most oval or wing shape rack crossbars up to 3.5" wide or up to 2" thick.

Only two small hand wheels to loosen to install. "Bottom hinged" Universal
Mounts will grab any shape crossbars. A second set of bottom jaw mounts are included
for any oversized crossbars.
Our "Gull Wing", "Gull Wing XL", and "Gull Wing Caribbean" kayak Saddles are available in Universal versions
to fit most oval or wing shaped rack crossbars up to 3.5" wide or up to 2" thick.

Shown above: The Gull Wing Saddle with the Velcro Attached 12" SUV Roller
onto the car's rear window plastic spoiler! Three 2" x 3 ½" Velcro strips install
to the cars surface and attach to the velcro bottom on the roller. We are the alternative
to tough loading and scratches on your car. Magnet bottom 12' roller also available for
metal surfaces.

Oak Orchard Canoe recommends the fail-safe security system of
Yakima "Strap Caps" on the end
of your Yakima crossbars. Yakima's "Strap Caps" fasten onto the ends your crossbars
with a screwdriver and each have a tab hanging down so it is impossible for your
strap to slide off of the bar. |
Shown above: Chrysler MiniVan. Note the
large distance from the factory rack crossbar and the installed Gull Wing to
the rear of the vehicle. This distance is shortened considerably by adding the
Oak Orchard 12" Fin Style SUV/Minivan Loader Roller in the 5th door roof crack. Now
loading from the rear with the fin style roller onto the Gull Wing is easy!
Note: ALL cartopped canoes and kayaks should be secured front and
back to car bumpers with ropes or bow/stern security straps (sold separately). These will prevent loss onto
the road behind you and to remind one from entering the garage or low overheads.
