In the past few years Rheaume has re-focused on building composite and cedar canoes with their own name on them. For most of the previous years they built canoes for quality brand names such as Orvis, Eddie Bauer, Old Town and more. Our Carbon canoes may have either Premium Wood gunwales or Luxurious Carbon-Kevlar composite gunwales. Carbon hulls may have either an interior of Kevlar OR basalt with innegra. Wood Canoes -our staff are not mere canoe assemblers but master craftsmen. Our knowledge, skill and passion for canoe building goes back over 35 years, allowing us to be the best at what we do. Each component on our canoes is fitted and finished by hand for impeccable quality. Wood Canoes may have either a clear epoxy + varnish exterior OR a painted epxoy exterior color OR a traditional painted Canvas exterior. A keel is optional. Rebel shown above in Kevlar Fusion, Forest Green with White bottom, Kevlar skid plates, premium wood gunwales and contour web seat. The Rebel is absolutely perfect for fans of solo excursions since it is so responsive to the paddle, and so light and easy to carry. Its elegant design allows it to spin quickly and yet go straight easily in a crossing breeze. Although it is small, it has a very acceptable cargo capacity, in addition to providing good initial stability and excellent secondary balance. The Rebel is ideal for small to medium-sized paddlers who tackle trips with adventurous portages and pack a modest pile of gear. Although the Rebel may be suitable for beginners, it is the intermediate and advanced paddlers that will be most rewarded by the higher performance of this model. Rebel captures the spirit of solo touring. Fine lines and impeccable craftsmanship are obvious.
