This Vagabond solo is in our special Carbon Kevlar ultralight construction, weighing in at just 29 lbs. with a shiny black Carbon Fiber exterior and Kevlar interior layers. Quite a bit more durable than Wenonah's "graphite ultra-light" layup with less Kelvar, which was derived to shave off every pound possible for their racing canoes.
We've been ordering this same Carbon Kevlar layup for decades since its beauty, lightness and durability suits our customers very well.
Vagabond is our mid-sized, maneuverable solo canoe for solo touring or exploring on moderate lakes, rivers and streams. Bring some gear, your adventurous spirit will come back satisfied. This is a great choice for an all-around solo canoe.
Highly maneuverable, and its sleek hull shape is very quiet when tracking birds through the backwaters.
The Vagabond is a solo of moderate width, with good volume from bow to stern, giving good tracking, stability and capacity for its size. While just big enough for solo tripping, Vagabond holds plenty of gear for those who will portage, while still being a sensible size for day trips, fishing and casual use. Vagabond's compact size makes it easy to car-top and carry, and convenient to store.

- When paddled with a single blade, or double blade paddle, Vagabond is sure to please.
The Vagabond responds well when used with a single blade or a double blade paddle. A kayak style paddle such as our 260cm double blade offers improved performance on calm water, and better control in wind or adverse weather. Vagabond is lighter than any kayak of comparable length, and when paddled this way, will easily outperform a kayak of similar size.
Comparisons: Vagabond is responsive for experienced paddlers and enjoyable for new paddlers. When compared to shorter pack style canoes, Vagabond has more performance, seaworthiness and capacity. Vagabond is similar stability but is more maneuverable, with 1/2" more depth at center when compared to the Basswood solo. Vagabond is similar to our Wilderness but just a bit more compact. Our Wilderness and Prism are longer and thus have more speed and capacity for gear than Vagabond. Prism and Wilderness can handle either a larger paddler and/or more gear, where Vagabond is about a foot shorter and better for a more modest load. Prism includes the bucket style seat for sitting only, whereas the Vagabond seat is adjustable in height and angle for sitting or kneeling. When compared to Vagabond, the Prism is faster but less maneuverable since it is about 2 feet longer with less rocker. Over many years we have noticed how Wenonah canoes hold up MUCH better than other brands, some of those cost Less, while other cost much More!
Although we have a great selection right now, our suppliers have told us supplies will be tight for the 2026 season. Demand for kayak and canoe related items is at an all time high. Due to complications, supply chain issues and also unprecedented demand, many of our suppliers are taking longer to fill our orders.

Boats that we ship to you MUST be signed for. Any shipping prices on our website are only an estimate; we will confirm actual prices with you via email once we have your order/address.
NOTE; We recommend that you completely unwrap and inspect the boat from one end to the other, making note on the shipping document of any tears in the packaging and/or damage. By signing for it you are agreeing with the shipping company that your boat has been received in good condition.
Once a boat is shipped it is yours. You are responsible to inspect the entire boat and note any damage on the shipping document. We are not trying to be harsh here but simply blunt as to the shipping company's rules.
