      NovaCraft Canoe materials explained....

      Fiberglass

NovaCraft makes a quality fiberglass canoe with Aramid Kevlar reinforcements in each end, resulting in a medium weight. NovaCraft prices their fiberglass canoes just a bit higher than a heavier, slower plastic or aluminum canoe.

      Tuff Stuff™

Tuff Stuff is a medium weight composite canoe material with ample reinforcements under an outer gelcoat. The main limitation of composites such as this layup is the lack of flexibility compared to T-formex, which has no brittle gelcoat. The ability to flex without cracking can be important for rugged uses such as remote wilderness trips, faster moving or shallow rocky streams, lakes with a rocky shoreline, and any amount of whitewater.

      Tuff Stuff Exp™

Tuff Stuff EXP is a heavier composite canoe material with maximum reinforcements under an outer gelcoat.

      Aramid Kevlar

NovaCraft makes a quality Aramid Kevlar canoe with modest reinforcements, for an Ultra Light weight.

      Blue Steel™

Blue Steel is a quality composite canoe material with modest reinforcements, and at a Lighter weight.

NOTICE...The company that made the Royalex material for NovaCraft and all other canoe brands has stopped production.  Royalex was great material for canoes which we sold for many years. If you need a Light canoe that is VERY durable, we now have the new and improved Royalex 2.0 replacement in stock, called T-formex. Examples of high-quality T-formex canoes would be Esquif and Wenonah. T-formex has proven to be the best canoe material by far, if you need Lots of durability and a reasonable weight.
