STAINLESS STEEL Multi-Purpose KAYAK J-CRADLES...
Our smart design lets you use the same J-Cradles for cartop use AND Kayak storage!
Our designers here at Oak Orchard have designed the Stainless Steel J- Cradle kayak carrier to car top kayaks safely and easily. All-Weather Stainless-Steel Frame (no rust.) Deluxe Rubber Padding. Fits all kayaks. Our Patented "Upside-Down" - 4 Minute Easy Load - Strap System. (No Step Stool Required.)
Specs: Each J-Cradle is 15" from front to rear, about 10" of this in the middle tray contacts the bar. Each Cradle is about 23" tall. Frequently the kayak takes up more space than our J-cradles do.
This pair of J-Cradles has Universal Mounts that fit perfectly on just about any shape of rack crossbar. Fits oval or wing shaped rack crossbars up to 3.5" wide or up to 2" thick, including Yakima™ Jetstream bars and Core bars, Thule™ Aero bars, round or square, and most vehicle factory racks.
We use two bolts and two mounts per cradle or saddle for extra stability compared to other brands which only have one connector grabbing the bar -and much less secure. Our two connectors are spaced apart so that you can span over a rack tower. If there is just one connector you need to go either side of the tower, which means you have less room for kayaks.
This J-Cradle design is much more effective than a mere stacker and it's tall enough to handle even the wide kayaks -yet narrow kayaks are no problem. Other J's and stackers have many more parts to remove, rust easily, and are more difficult to take on and off, plus these are usually only about 1/2 the height of our Stainless Steel J-Cradles.
Our J-Cradles are designed to be an easy one-person load! (others require 2 people.)
You can actually set your kayak in the J-Cradle without it falling over before you get it strapped down! (try that with a stacker!)
Our J-Cradles include two of our patented upside-down Loop Straps -easy loading -no step stool required! (these are much easier to reach with taller vehicles.)
Optional Extras:
a.) Multi Purpose: use our Stainless-Steel J-Cradles for kayak transport AND kayak storage with our optional Wall Mount Clip Kit.
b.) Add optional padding onto the back side if you want to use our J-Cradles as a Kayak Stacker. One kayak fits in the front of the J-cradle, and also carry an occasional second kayak against the back side of the J-cradle.
We offer two types of Mounts for J-Cradless: Choose which fits your rack crossbar shape...
- Snap-Around Mount Fits ONLY Yakima™ round bars OR Thule™ rectangular bars.
- Universal Mount Fits most rack crossbars. Fits oval or wing shaped bars up to 3.5" wide or up to 2" thick. Including Yakima™ Jetstream bars and Yakima™ Core bars, Thule™ Aero bars, and most vehicle factory racks. This also fits Yakima round bars OR Thule rectangular bars, but the fit of the Snap-Around mount on those bars is more precise, yet very simple to operate.
Always use bow and stern lines (sold separately.) whenever you transport kayaks. Yakima, Thule and every other brand selling kayak transporting devices also recommends bow and stern lines (just in a less obvious way than we do.)
Although we have a great selection right now, our suppliers have told us supplies will be tight for the 2026 season. Demand for kayak and canoe related items is at an all time high. Boats that we ship to you MUST be signed for. Any shipping prices on our website are only an estimate; we will confirm actual prices with you via email once we have your order/address.
NOTE; We recommend that you completely unwrap and inspect the boat from one end to the other, making note on the shipping document of any tears in the packaging and/or damage. By signing for it you are agreeing with the shipping company that your boat has been received in good condition.
Once a boat is shipped it is yours. You are responsible to inspect the entire boat and note any damage on the shipping document. We are not trying to be harsh here but simply blunt as to the shipping company's rules.
