This is the rudder replacement we use to repair a Current Designs kayak that has a lost or broken rudder, it's not a full kit. (If you need a Rudder Kit see our Universal Rudder Kit.)
This Rudder replacement includes a rudder body mounted on a block with a stainless steel pin, includes rudder blade and new lines to raise or lower the rudder already installed on the rudder body.
You will just need to hook up this new rudder to your cables and re-do the lines as they were.
We have used this rudder on Current Design models such as Breeze, Kestrel 140, Solara 135, Solara tandem, Vision, or Whistler. Please let us know which model you have, this may not be prefect for all models or years.
Current Design No Longer offers a full rudder kit with exact parts and instructions for each kayak model. Nor do they offer parts. We have one Current Design Rudder body left, and we can't get anymore. However, we do have a generic substitute for the original Current Designs rudder which functions like the original.
If you also need new rudder cables, clevis, swages, foot pedals, pad eyes, nuts, bolts, rivets OR other related hardware, we do sell those items in our store.
Rudder body: $289.95 This Rudder replacement includes a rudder body mounted to a rudder block and stainless steel pin, with rudder blade. The exposed pin is about 2 1/4" long.
Includes new lines to raise or lower the rudder blade, already installed on the rudder body.
Normally you would just hook up this new rudder the same way that the old unit was and go paddling! (or choose our Short Pin Rudder Body, $189.95 its the generic replacement option.)
Rudder block and pin: $49.95 If your stainless steel pin has become separated from the rudder body you need a new Rudder block and pin. This Rudder block replacement includes a rudder block mounted on stainless steel pin (No rudder body or blade.)
This block and pin is ONLY for the version of Current Design rudder we show here. The exposed pin is about 2 1/4" long. Notice the three screws in a row that secure the rudder block (these holes are about 5/8" on center from each other.) There is another version with a round disc below the block (not shown) which reduces the amount of pin exposed to about 1 3/4" see Rudder block and pin with disc: $69.95
Normally you would just hook up this new rudder block back together the same way that the old unit was and go paddling!
Rudder Line: $24.95 Replacement Rudder line, 16ft line to raise or lower rudder -does not include bungee, cleats or other hardware.
Rudder Cables: $59.95 Replacement Rudder Cables. Our Kit includes: 2 stainless steel cables (1/16" dia.) with stainless steel eyelet (3/16" dia.) attached on one end, with four copper swages, and heat shrink tubing to finish the other ends.

Boats that we ship to you MUST be signed for. Any shipping prices on our website are only an estimate; we will confirm actual prices with you via email once we have your order/address.
NOTE; We recommend that you completely unwrap and inspect the boat from one end to the other, making note on the shipping document of any tears in the packaging and/or damage. By signing for it you are agreeing with the shipping company that your boat has been received in good condition.
Once a boat is shipped it is yours. You are responsible to inspect the entire boat and note any damage on the shipping document. We are not trying to be harsh here but simply blunt as to the shipping company's rules.
