This Wilderness solo is in our special Carbon Kevlar ultralight construction, weighing in at just 29 lbs. with a shiny black Carbon Fiber exterior and Kevlar interior layers. Quite a bit more durable than Wenonah's "graphite ultra-light" layup with less Kelvar, which was derived to shave off every pound possible for their racing canoes.
We've been ordering this same Carbon Kevlar layup for decades since its beauty, lightness and durability suits our customers very well.
Wilderness is named in remembrance of Dick Proenneke, a legendary wilderness man who spent 30 years of his retired life living alone in the wilds of Twin Lakes, Alaska. The Wilderness is a solo canoe that can take you far away from it all.
Brilliantly designed for extended solo trips it portages well, paddles efficiently, carries plenty of gear and gives a dry ride in rough waters. It's well-rounded stability and moderate rocker make it excellent for lakes or rivers, while inspiring confidence whether fully loaded for multi lake canoe tripping, or un-loaded for an evening paddle.

- When paddled with a single blade, or double blade paddle, Wilderness is sure to please.
Wilderness responds well when used with a single blade, or a double blade paddle. A kayak style paddle such as our 260cm double blade offers improved performance on calm water, and better control in wind or adverse weather. Wilderness is lighter than any kayak of comparable length, and when paddled this way, will easily outperform a kayak of similar size.
Comparisons: Wilderness is similar stability but quicker and has 2" more depth at center, for more seaworthiness and capacity when compared to the Basswood solo. Wilderness is better for medium to Extra Larger sized folks with gear, where Vagabond is about a foot shorter and better for medium sized paddlers with gear. Prism includes the bucket style seat for sitting only, whereas the Wilderness seat is adjustable in height and angle for sitting or kneeling. When compared to Wilderness, the Prism is similar capacity, a bit faster but less maneuverable since it is about a foot longer with less rocker. Over many years we have noticed how Wenonah canoes hold up MUCH better than other brands, some of those cost Less, while other cost much More!

Boats that we ship to you MUST be signed for. Any shipping prices on our website are only an estimate; we will confirm actual prices with you via email once we have your order/address.
NOTE; We recommend that you completely unwrap and inspect the boat from one end to the other, making note on the shipping document of any tears in the packaging and/or damage. By signing for it you are agreeing with the shipping company that your boat has been received in good condition.
Once a boat is shipped it is yours. You are responsible to inspect the entire boat and note any damage on the shipping document. We are not trying to be harsh here but simply blunt as to the shipping company's rules.
