Broke your rudder? -it's a lost cause to try to find parts to patch up a 20 year old rudder.

This classic style rudder body assembly replaces many of the older style Old Town, Perception, Dagger, Mainstream, Wilderness ...and many other solo OR tandem kayak models that normally offer a rudder option at the factory ...AND some of these will have a molded hole at the stern to receive a rudder... Other models will require a bracket to hold the rudder.

The Short Pin rudder can accommodate 1.5 inches of thickness. So the rudder bracket can be 1.5 inches tall, or the kayak can be 1.5 inches thick and this rudder pin can still be connected to the kayak. There are some kayaks that are more like 2 3/4  or 3 inches thick where the rudder pin goes, so a Long Pin rudder would be needed (Please, let us know how your kayak is setup.)

Our Short Pin rudder works on older Tsunami kayaks that have 2 bolts/nuts molded into the end of the kayak, which holds a stern mounted bracket to which the rudder pin connects (yes, we have that bracket if you need one.) This is not for the current model Tsunami. (yes, we also have a rudder we use on those new versions.) We also have a rudder body replacement just for Current Design kayaks (specify your model.) If your Ocean Kayak, Necky or Old Town has 4 bolts/nuts molded into the end of the kayak, those require a different rudder body that we refer to as the Necky style. 

This Rudder body, replacement includes a rudder body mounted on stainless steel pin, with new lines to raise or lower the rudder installed on the rudder body. Normally you would just hook this up the way the old unit was and go paddling!

Used on many classic Old Town, Perception, Dagger and Wilderness Systems models.  Long Pin -fits tons of brands and models with a hole molded into the stern end of the kayak. The Long rudder pin passes completely thru the kayak, a split-ring on the end of the pin keeps it from coming out.

Classic rudder body -Short Pin, SALE $169.95
Used on some of the newer models as well as classics.  Short Pin -fits tons of brands and models with 2 nuts molded into the stern end of the kayak. This allows a rudder bracket to be bolted on.  The rudder pin passes thru the bracket, a split-ring on the end of the pin keeps it from coming out.  For the Current Design Breeze and Kestrel 140 (poly.) the Short rudder pin passes thru a hole in the stern end of the kayak (the long pin is too long for the special design of these models.)

Necky style rudder body, SALE $299.95
Used on many Ocean kayak, Old Town and Necky models.  Necky style -these kayaks will have 4 screws in the stern end of the kayak to hold the required rudder bracket.

New style rudder body -Locking Pin, SALE $169.95
Some Wilderness Systems models require a special rudder pin design.  Locking Pin -fits Focus models and the current version of Wilderness Systems Tsunami models. This special rudder pin locks into a hole molded into the stern end of the kayak.
