Standard Thwart for Mad River Canoes
The real deal for classic Mad River Canoes, Made in USA. 1" thick select ash stock, trimmed and finished by hand to 7/8" thickness. Clear varnish finish. Made one at a time with a durable, UV resistant gloss finish.
Our 36 inch size is not trimmed, so it may be slightly more than 36 inches overall.
This is the Perfect thwart for any MAD RIVER CANOE such as... Explorer, Malecite, Revelation, Freedom, and many other canoe models.
Mad River canoes are no longer made so finding an accurate replacement can be a challenge.

These Mad River thwarts have a unique profile compared to other canoe brands.
If you have a 10, 20 or 30 year old canoe, chances are you need a different length and cut angle than what other canoe brands use today.

Not sure? order your Thwart in a a longer size than you need and cut it down to the exact length and cut angle needed to perfectly fit Your canoe. Seal the end cut with exterior polyurethane or marine varnish.
NOTE; the size of Yokes and thwarts used in a particular Mad River model has varied over the years. We recommend that you measure your canoe prior to ordering.
We offer several sizes here for classic Mad River Canoes, OR you can order a longer size and cut it to fit your canoe perfectly. Just seal the cut end with exterior grade varnish or polyurethane.
