Standard Thwart for Old Town Canoes
The real deal; from Old Town, Maine USA. 1" thick select ash stock, trimmed and finished by hand to 7/8" thickness. Clear varnish finish. Made one at a time with a durable, UV resistant gloss finish. We do have thwarts for any OLD TOWN CANOES such as... Camper, Penobscot, Tripper, Discovery, Guide, Predator, Otca and many other canoe models.
However; Old Town sells only ONE thwart size today; these sizes are used in models they make today, not for most older vintages. If you have a 5, 10 or 20 year old canoe chances are you need a different length and cut angle than what they use today.
The 32.5 inch thwart is the only size in use by Old Town today. We also stock 34.5 inch and 32 inch and more sizes... see our Heavy Duty Canoe Thwart. The 32 inch, 32.5 inch and 34.5 inch Thwarts are measured to the longest point (ends are angled).
Most models use a shaped or contour thwart (from overhead view). Pack, Pack Angler and Discovery 119 models use the 29 inch heavy duty thwart with a straight profile. The Tripper and Tripper XL use a 33.5 or 37 inch heavy duty thwart with a straight profile.
Not sure? order our Heavy Duty Thwart in a a longer size than you need and cut it down to the exact length and cut angle needed to perfectly fit Your canoe. Seal the end cut with exterior polyurethane or marine varnish.
NOTE; the size of Yokes and thwarts used in a particular Old Town model has varied over the years. We recommend that you measure your canoe prior to ordering. Old Town no longer makes many popular sizes so if you don't see your size here check out our Heavy Duty Thwarts. We offer classic sizes for Old Town Canoes, OR you can order a longer size and cut it to fit your canoe perfectly. Just seal the cut end with exterior grade varnish or polyurethane.
